Windows 2000 install locking up

By dwaind ·
After the computer reboots for the first time
after installing a clean copy of Win 2000 Pro, it
locks up at the Win 2000 splash screen and
nothing appears in the starting up progress
bar. Any known causes for this? Video card
maybe?

Thanks
Dwain

Windows 2000 install locking up

A couple of things to try:

Press F8 and choose safe-mode to see if you can start in safe-mode. If you can then it could be a driver related problem. Remove or replace adapter cards and restart Win2000 as necessary to find the culprit. First thingto try is change your display adapter... Good luck.

Windows 2000 install locking up

I did try safe mode and it locked up at the
black screen with the white bar at the bottom
titled 'starting windows'. I tried a different
video card and removed the sound and network
cards and it is still locking up.

Thanks,
Dwain
