It depends on the hardware in your system like e.g. primary scsi drives or ide drives on a promise 100 adapter. If your system has regular ide hard drives connected to the motherboard you should be able to boot from the cd (assuming your cdrom is setup in the bios as the 1st boot device). So first put in the cdrom restart you system and look for a message "Press any key to boot from cdrom..." When you see this press a key and it will start the install from the cd. If you dont see anything likethis you're cd is not setup as a the primary bootdevice and you need to restart the system enter the BIOS (check manual but usually keys like F1 or F2 gets you in it) look for an option related to bootdevice or boot order and make sure the cdrom is listed before the harddrive. save the settings reboot and you should see the above mentioned message.
Hope this helps. if notyou would have to provide more information about your system config/bios so we can be more specific with the suggestions...

First you will want to check the Hardware Compatibility List on Microsoft web site
Make sure that you have the hardware drivers to support NT
Once this is determined, then you can by inserting the CD in drive, you will be given the option to upgradeor a clean install,if you are not dual booting then you will proceed with a clean install, you will need the hardware drivers available.
Gather info from the Tech Reppublic articles on WIN 2K Pro installation, also ref the Microsoft knowledgebase on installation.
Hopefully everything goes okay, but you never know.
