Windows 2000 Quicklaunch Bar

By bsmontgomery1 ·
In Windows 2000, everytime I create a new profile the Outlook Express Icon gets put back on the quicklaunch bar even after I have specifically deleted it from defaul users and all other instances where I can find it. Is there a registry key I can change to turn off the option for it to automacally recreate the icon in new profiles?

I don't think this can be done but if you don't want your users to get Outlook Express you shouldn't install it.

It is installed when you upgrade to IE4. Instead of choosing Install Common Components. Choose Install Minimal or Customize. Here youwill be able to Uncheck Outlook Express so it won't be installed. If for some reason a user needs to have it, you can install it from the Updates page on M$ website.

Hope it helps

The first answer looks good to me. If that doesn't work, try something else. Hope this helps.
