Windows 2000 Server Logoffs

By Cluby ·
I have a few pcs that will get logged off the server at any given time. I have checked the logon names for timing and they are set to never expire. The only way to get back on is to restart the PC. What is going on?

ARe you sure you haven't scheduled any automatic interventions/updates on the pc's in question? This might cause the automatic logoff, as the service requires that the system account be used for installs. The timeout for this can be set by the domain admin.

I had the same problem, clients logged into the network, working and all the sudden the were denied access to mapped network drives. The only thing I was able to do was reboot also. However, I called Microsoft and they provided a special patch that fixed the problem. The patch has a password that makes it work, and after so much time that password expires. So if you add more clients to your network in the future, you'll have to obtain the patch again through Microsoft. Hope this helps!

Is the patch set to how users you have or is it a general patch?
