Windows 2000 Task Bar

By tphillips ·
In Windows 2k Pro is there a way to configure the taskbar to display one button or instance when a program is opened but multiple documents of that program are also opened? I would rather navigate through each opened document through the program compared to the buttons on the taskbar. For example I use Microsoft Excel and have multiple Excel documents or spreadsheets open at once and the taskbar gets kind of full, I would much rather have the Excel program button display on the taskbar.

Thanks for you help!

This could be done by manipulating the actual programs you are using. Windows 2000 will not group programs on the task bar like Windows XP. For Excel 2002, you can open Tools, Options, and on the View tab, unclick the "Windows in Taskbar" option. That will force all of your workbooks to open under one taskbar window.
