I recently upgraded from NT Workstation to W2k Professional, however I have lost my original profile settings. This includes my original desktop settings, favorites and short cut icons I had on the desktop. Thanks.

      QUESTION:
What profiles are listed when you right click on “My Computer” and select properties. Then click on the “User Profiles” tab??

What folders are listed in winnt\profiles\ ??
Your old profile information should be stored in a subfolderin this directory.

Do you have a folder called “Documents and Settings” on your C: drive?? If so, then you mistakenly “installed fresh” instead of an upgrade, your old profile info is lost.

When you upgrade from NT 3.x or 4.x Windows 2000 will continue to use the old profile location inside winnt, your old profile information is in there somewhere.

      Hope it helps.

It looks like you completed a fuyll install versus a reinstall – so no old profiles will be avail.
