I am rolling out some Win2K Pro PC’s and have experienced some odd behavior. I have an internal DNS to resolve internal site names and point to my ISP for all other DNS. The search order is inside then outside. In Win NT/95 every request is sent to each DNS server in your search list in order, but what seems to happen in 2K is the OS asks for an internet address from my internal DNS, which it does not find. The request then goes to the outside DNS and the user finds their site, easy enough. Nowwhen the Win2K user needs to hit an internal site it does not go back to the first DNS server in it’s list, but rather keeps asking my ISP for DNS of our internal sites.
Any help would be appreciated.
