Windows 8.1 Image Capture and Deploy

I am trying to build a Golden Image for my firm's update to Windows 8.1 and for some odd reason am having a lot of trouble prepping the image with Sysprep and then capturing with DISM.

Our old Senior IT Manager created the Golden Images for the few different model laptops we deploy to users and then hosted them on SCCM. The installation process was completely automated, you set the boot priority to the NIC, then it communicates with SCCM, you choose the WIM file associated with the specific laptop model, resulting in a 100% ready to go built machine. You would not have to go through the OOBE prompts, after boot, the windows login screen would appear for the local administrator account.

Does anyone have any experience with this process? I have been scowering Technet like a mad man, but for some reason the puzzle pieces are not fitting together. Whenever we are finished installing all the necessary software and capture the image, the installation does not seem to properly take on the hard drive after the fact, it keeps trying to boot into PE (resulting in a "Windows did not install correctly" error message) or takes you through the OOBE prompts.

Anyone have any experience with 8.1 in a domain setting along the lines of what I am trying to do?

All input appreciated,

Thank you.
