Word experienced an error when trying to open the file

Word experienced an error when trying to open the file – from Office 365 or SharePoint

There 2 ways that I know of detailing how to solve it.

      Method 1:
Step 1: Add the Office 365 or SharePoint site as a ‘Trusted Site’ in Internet Explorer
Step 2: Launch Internet Explorer (IE).
Step 3: Select ‘Tools’ from the menu. (Press ‘Alt’ to get the options to show).
      Step 4: Choose ‘Internet Options’.
Step 5: Choose ‘ Security’ tab.
      Step 6: Click ‘Sites’.
Step 7: Click the ‘Trusted Sites’ green tick.
Step 8: Type your domain into the text box and click ‘Add’ and Click ‘Ok’.

      Method 2:
Step 1: Launch Microsoft Word (or Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
Step 2: Click the ‘File’ menu
      Step 3: Choose ‘Options’
      Step 4: Choose ‘Trust Center’
Step 5: Choose ‘Trust Center Settings’
      Step 6: Choose ‘Protected View’
Step 7: Unselect the ‘Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet’
