    by babyk0424 ·

When booting windows 95 I get error messages. During startup, computer will state Starting Windows 95 but will then display the following: “Warning:Windows has detected a Registry/configuration error. Choose Safe mode to start windows with a minimal set of drivers” When I press 3 for safe mode, Windows will begin to load but I am kicked back to the C:\ prompt with the following messages:
The Following File is Missing or Corrupted:C:\Windows\himem.sys
The Following files is missing or corrupted:C:\Windows\dblbuff.sys
The following file is Missing or Corrupted:C:\windows\ifshlp.sys
    What Should I do

I have often been blamed for being too crass here yet I think the last post really showed the postees true mentaility.
      I’d reformat, it’s easier than debugging Win95.

I too offer my apologies for the first comment. We try to keep the very crass users off of the forum.

Your best option, is to format the hard drive and reload Windows.

Short of that, you can try simply re-installing Windows over itself.

Make sure that you tell the installer to use the existing folder C:\Windows and you should recover enough to boot up and have a chance to back up your files.

Depending on how the PC is used, it is a good idea to wipe the drive and re-install Windows every 6 months to 2 years.
You will be amazed at how much faster a PC runs with a clean install of Windows.

      Simple.
Just setup again your windows 95 from CD.
All this messages mean that you are missing certain file from your windows.
      Try it.
