I have a major problem with my computer. As far as I heard, my computer can’t run any programs EXCEPT IE browser. That’s why i know. Anyhow, whenever a program is tried to be executed, an error message appears saying that windows cannot find “ppipp.exe”. I’ve tried searching at microsoft.com for the information about the file, but no results. My thought is that it’s a virus, but then how can i clean it? since i cannot run anything? please help!!! ASAP!! The computer is very important!! Thank You!!!

The file ppipp.exe is apparently part of an application and I’m guessing that the system is hanging up as it tries to load it.

You need to disable this program from loading but it might be loaded from the StartUp menu, from an *.ini file or from the registry.

Another alternative, although I hate to suggest it, would be to re-load the operating system. Sadly, that is sometimes quicker than tracking down the rogue program.

      regards!

if it is a virus and you have the network
capabilatys try useing a virus checker
through the network to scan your computer
eg: another comp scaning your comp

try AVP (Antivirul Tool kit Pro)
i know that will let you do it

You could trying going to http://www.download.com and getting regclean to search your registry for errors or use something like Nuts&Bolts or norton utilities to clean up your registry. You can also go to a DOS prompt and edit “win.ini” and “sysem.ini” tolook for a line that is trying to load this program.

Have yuo tried booting in safe mode? you do this by pressing F8 or ctrl key during boot, it should bring up a menu, select the number for safe mode& try thatsee if windows loads if so you may then be able to run utilites such as msconfig.exe by going to start then run & typing “msconfig.exe” don’t use quotes. from there you can click the starup tab & by unchecking boxes you can disable programs one by one that load on startup, you may be able to do a file search for that file & determine what program it is part of. if safe mode won’t work you may need to get a antivirus program & boot to a floppy. you can email me with further questions

      A few things to do,

      1. if you installed anything or changed anything on your pc, undo it…

2.Boot into safe mode and check if you can run executables in there…

      3.run an emergency anti-virus disk
