Just recently a Windows 98 computer has been unable to get IP address assigned to it from our DHCP server. Our Network as all NT servers (3) and Windows 98 workstations (20) running on a single NT Domain. If I assign IPX/SPX as the only protocol, it works fine. Which would tell me the Nic card is functioning probably. If I remove IPX/SPX and install only TCP/IP the computer receives an IP address of 169.x.x.x. There are valid IP address available on the DHCP server and all the proper setting. If I assign a static IP address to the Nic card, everything works fine. There are no other DHCP server running

IP Tab = Obtain an IP address automatically
Client For MS Network:
Logon to NT Domain is Checked
Domain Name is Listed properly
Logon and restore network connections is selected
Identification tab:
Computer name is listed.
Workgroup (Domain name is listed)
I have tested the cable.
Reinstalled the Nic card and installed new drivers from 3Com.
