windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

\windows\system32\config\system

when i recover it by windows xp sp2 cd it shows me bad_pool_caller error.and same bad_pool_caller error shows when i install fresh copy of window xp sp2.

my system config is...

Asus M2N-E SLi motherboard
AMD Athlon x2 5600+
1 kingston DDR2 2GB RAM
2 corsair DDR2 1GB RAM
2 nvidea 256 mb graphic card

Plz help me...

the one 2GB stick of RAM. Place the 2 corsair's in the same channel, so you can run the system in dual channel (if the board supports it), boot and see if it still throws an error.

Sounds like conflicting memory to me at this point. Conflicting RAM will pass POST test but once it gets to loading the OS or sometimes past the OS, but when you load an app the OS crashes.
