    Windows credentials

    by j0hn98 ·

    Hi all.

I have a problem with credentials when accessing another pc through network connection. I created a batch file to open a folder from another PC and copy files using robocopy. When i run as normal it will prompt enter credentials. After enter the username and password i can run the batch file normally. When i run as admin it will prompt again to enter credentials. I restarted my pc and run the batch file as admin. Now it will prompt enter credentials 2 times. When run as admin it will prompt enter credentials 2 times and need to enter username and password for both. When run as normal it will prompt and need to enter username and password only 1 time. Currently my pc is windows 10 and the pc i want to access is using windows 7. Need help to solve this issue.

    Thank you.

This area has been getting hit with Microsoft securing the OS so you see this is no longer simple.

Keep in mind that I won’t write a step by step since Microsoft changed this so much but you start with the following:
      1. Install a Windows Server on the network and use the domain login system.
      2. If not Windows Server I continue to find folk forget they need an account on each system they need to attach to.
      3. Finally if you login as JOHN but want to attach to a share that is owned by SALLY that means you have 2 to 4 logins to deal with.
      4. The last time I checked the GUEST login which disables all this has been disabled because of security issues.
      5. Almost everyone wanted a more secure network. Microsoft delivered.
