I really need to get to the bottom of this Windows Explorer lockup problem I’ve been experiencing. Often when I try to view the contents of a large folder (many files), the file list is repainting the icons(autocad icon), then just locks up. It willalso lock up all other explorer windows, and won’t allow access to the start menu. My only option is to ctrl-alt-del, bring up the task list and end task on the explorer window that locked up. It will then terminate
all explorer windows, dump anything I have running in the taskbar, and reload everything in startup. I am running Windows NT 4 with service pack 6. It did this with service pack 4 and 5 as well.
