Windows installer every time you launch any office prog

By mmwc100 ·
I am having a problem with my office XP(os win2k). Every time I launch any of the office programs I get the windows installer dialog box for a few seconds. I have no Idea what it is looking for or loading. I have tried having the office disc in the drive when launching the program but this does not stop it from happening. Can anyone please tell me how to stop this from happening..

Post this in the Q&A

Some folks around here are sticklers for where you post straight out tech questions, most will tell you to post it in the Q&A section or they won't help you.

However, you need to complete the install as an administrator when install Office XP, then activate it (any one of the suites apps will do -- word, excel, outlook, etc.) AS an administrator. Once the software is activated...you should no longer see the installer boxy thingamawidget.

Oh...make sure when you installed Office XP you select COMPLETE install -- then there is no "excuse" why it needs to reference a cd because the entire suite and all components are copied to your HDD.

admin rights needed

Your problem seems to be in lacking admin rights to finish the install. If you have admin rights it will finish writing what it needs to modify and you should not see this again. This is very annoying but easy to fix.
