    Windows Live Messenger Install Issues

    Locked

    by mpd881 ·

I thought I’d try out the new Windows Live Messenger. I downloaded it and tried installing it but get an error message “Extracting File Failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file.”

Another box shows it is extracting the file MsnMsgs.msi, but hangs up there.

I am running XP Pro SP2, have 1 GB RAM and 39 GB of Disk space. I’ve tried downloading it from several sources but nothing worked. Any ideas?

You have most likely got a corrupt .CAB file and the different sources that you are attempting to download from have all got the same file from the same source.

Leave it a couple of days and try again from MS to download the file, if they have a problem with it they will have got a lot of feedback letting them know of the problem and most likely fixed it.
