I have Windows media player installed on my laptop.
This is the second time I install it.
it does not work.
If I try to watch a movie (DVD), a message comes up that tells me that Media Player has encountered a problem. It tells me it wants to report it to Microsoft.
If I click ‘yes’ it closes. If I click ‘no’, it closes anyway.
I have Windows XP Professional installed on my laptop as the Operating System.
When I want to watch a ‘clip’ from the Internet, it usually tries to open on Windows media Player. It does the same thing: it shuts down.
I work at the U of Houston. I took my laptop to a IT service desk on this campus. A guy there fiddled with it for a while and did not know how to fix it.
So he suggested me to buy a copy of Power DVD. I did, and paid for it.
Now I watch my DVDs usually on Power DVD.
But sometimes I want to see a ‘clip’ from the Internet. Then the same message comes up, and the Media Player shuts down. Sometimes even the Internet Explorer window shuts down.
I also installed Firefox. Sometimes that shuts down too.
Is there something I can do to get Windows Media Player to run properly?
I tried to install version 10, but the download came up to version 11, automatically. It seemed to me that the download from the MS site overrides my manual instructions.
