windows password breakers

i have a truble maker that keeps going into computers
on my home network and changing passwords or using
programs to put passwords on files... i was wondering if
1 there was a simple way of stoping him and
2 f anyone knew a program that can get buy a
password on a computer... can get into the computer
but when i go to the file it asks me for the password...
wch i never set... i have been able to get arpund the
passwords by going into sub files then hiting the go up
one button but i would like to figure out the password so
that i can change it
i also need a software that tells me the IP address of all
the computers that contact my windows XP computer
i would like to spend as little money on this progect as
posable so links to free software that would do this
would be muchly apritated

I don't know anything for the password breaker but for the ip. You can try http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Protocol-Analyzers-Sniffers/IP-Sniffer.shtml or search google for other ip sniffer, ip locator, ip madness,... (I think all of those are free).

First things first. And your first priority here
should be to stop this person from getting onto your
network in the first place. I think you need to
look into getting/activating firewall software. Or,
if your internet hookup runs through a switch,
getting/activating firewall support on the switch.

How do you connect to the Net? You talk about computers so I'll guess you have a router or switch. To my knowledge, most of them log the IP that are trying to connect to you home network and some have an built-in firewall you should really put on.
One more thing. If you're on an XP machine, I'd say you have NTFS pertitions so NTFS rights on the files and maps. Check the owner of the files and, if possible (if it's not yourself or administrator), remove the owner. It'd be luck if it works because you probably own the file but it's worth a try .
