Windows Protection Error VCACHE

by al In reply to Windows Protection Error ...

I don't know if this will fix this but, I have recently been having problems with Blue Screens and ME. I tried to find out the answer by running BOOTLOG.TXT startup from Safe Mode and despite having about 20-30 failed attempts previously, magically the PC booted up. This problem keeps coming back and the same solution works each time.

Alan:

I ran into the same problem in my attempt to check out 2000. Hangs system between 12 and 18%. I even tried to reinstall WIN98SE. Hangs at 10 minutes left.

I can swap my primary drive without opening the case. I swapped drives, and I could boot, 98, ME and 2000 server with no problem. I tracing back any changes that I made, I realized that I had bough some cheap memory (wrong) at circuit city. I popped out the new strip, swapped the drive and cleaned it up, and ME went on without a problem. If possible, swap your memory strip for a known good one and try. ME will not load on 32 though.

Paul.
