Windows Update Not Working – Need Help

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having trouble with my Windows 10 updates recently. For the last few weeks, my system keeps saying it’s up to date, but I haven’t received any new updates. I’ve tried restarting, running the update troubleshooter, and even checking that the Windows Update service is running — still no luck.

I haven’t made any major changes to my system, and my internet is working fine. I’d rather avoid doing a full reinstall unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Has anyone faced something similar? Any simple fixes you’d recommend before I go for a reset?

No need for a full reinstall. An “in-place upgrade” is the thing to do, https://superuser.com/questions/1752883/how-to-do-an-in-place-upgrade-of-windows tells how. All you need to do is to download the media creation tool and tell it to install Windows in stead of creating the media. Or mount the ISO-file and run setup.exe.

Just wondering, how old is that Windows 10 computer? In some cases, until you update to Windows 11 new updates may be much less frequent than previously.

Excuse the expression, but “sometimes ya gotta pay to play”. In this case the updates have been free for decades, but not as readily available on older computers or even on cell phones.
