Windows Update Stuck on Installing or Downloading

Hi,
I’m having an issue with Windows updates getting stuck either during the download or installation process. The update seems to freeze at a certain percentage and doesn’t progress. I’ve tried restarting my computer, running the Windows Update troubleshooter, and even resetting the update components, but nothing has worked.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any other solutions I can try to get the updates working again?

– Getting stuck on downloading is very strange. It doesn’t do anything yet except writing something to a download folder.
– What updates are you talking about? The cumulative update of Windows on the second Tuesday of the month (but then the plural is strange), the rather common updates for .Net, the monthly program to remove malware? Or all?
– How much total and free disc space on your c:-drive?
– How long do you wait to conclude it’s stuck?
– What do you do when it’s stuck?

It might be the best solution is to download the full Windows installer (https://www.microsoft.com/en-usl/software-download/windows11 or https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 depending on your OS) and do an “in -place upgrade” as told in https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html . Then you’re totally up to date again.
