New Computer Time

by TheChas In reply to windows upgrade

Looking at the Specifications for the c707tu, I would strongly recommend a new computer rather than upgrading to Windows 7.

At a minimum, I would upgrade the RAM to the maximum 2GB and get a new larger hard drive.
I would go with at least a 250 GB drive, but 500 GB would be better.

Keep in mind that Installing Windows 7 formats the hard drive and starts over.

You can also use the Windows 7 Easy Transfer tool to help transfer some of your files and some settings from XP to Windows 7.

Keep in mind that you also need to find the install disks or files for ALL of your applications, as none of your installed software will transfer.

Like I stated, I would save my money and get a newer computer.

Check Compatability

by joshua0113 In reply to windows upgrade

In order to know whether your laptop will be compatible with windows 7 you would have to check some of the specs currently on your laptop such as; memory (ram). If you could just check the settings of the computer and provide that information? that would help to know if it will be compatible. Also you can check windows website and search up windows 7, there you will see a list of requirements needed in order to install it into a computer. Everything else included. In any case, i do believe that installing it into your laptop is definitely possible.
Here is a list of some of those requirements:
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

- check your computer system information to figure out if your pc is 32-bit or 64-bit.
control pannel > right click on my computer > click on properties
*** system information should show up.
