Windows video player that can fill in blank areas?

Bit of an odd request, perhaps, but are there any video players where, when a video is a different aspect ratio to your screen, can fill in the blank areas with something like a blurred version of the picture? Since it’s not uncommon for people to have lights around their monitors which do the same thing to the wall behind, it doesn’t seem like it’s impossible for a video player to do the same thing, but it’s not something I’ve seen.

I’d try the crop options. Start playback and then tap the letter C to cycle through available crop options.

As to fill, that, according to what I’ve seen is accomplished in video editors. I use DaVinci Resolve. Noted at https://www.techradar.com/best/free-video-editing-software

If you’re looking for a Windows video player that can automatically fill in blank areas or adjust the aspect ratio of a video to fit the screen, there are a few options you can consider:

VLC Media Player: VLC is a popular and versatile media player that offers a wide range of features, including the ability to adjust aspect ratios and crop videos. You can use the “Crop” feature to remove black bars or blank areas from videos.

PotPlayer: PotPlayer is another powerful media player that provides various customization options for video playback. It allows you to adjust aspect ratios and crop videos to fit your screen.

KMPlayer: KMPlayer is known for its advanced playback options. It allows you to adjust the aspect ratio of videos and resize the video to fill the screen.

GOM Player: GOM Player offers features like aspect ratio adjustment and the ability to zoom in to fill the screen. It can help you eliminate black bars from videos.

Media Player Classic – Home Cinema (MPC-HC): This lightweight media player includes options for aspect ratio adjustments and cropping. It’s particularly useful for playback on older systems. (link removed by moderator to prevent being marked as spam)
