I am running XP-Home on my 2 pcs. One crashed and wants the serial number to boot up again. However I lost my serial key code. Is there a way I can go into my regestry and bring up my serial key number from there so I can fix the other one or even make a clean install again. Thank You very much for your help. Hi
go to c:\windows\system32\wpa.dbl and copy it to the old machine that crashed , I recomend keeping a copy of the file for each pc , just remember that you can only do windows updates on the curently working pc otherwise Microsoft might just detect the other copy when you do a update there too .

PS . this is why Microsoft put the key on a sticker so that you can stick it to the box and never have to lose a key again .

A free program called "AIDA32" will give you all the information you require. Try the link below.
