Windows XP ACPI Error – Cannot skip with F7

    by melebisnuessrfwe ·

I am installing Windows XP x64 on an HP Laptop (DO NOT ASK WHY) and then I get to Setup is Starting Windows in the installer, “I get the BSOD saying The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant.”, I press the F7 key but it goes on with these options: “Other”, “ACPI Uniprossesser” and “ACPI Multiprossesser”, I select ACPI Multiprossesser and it gives that same ACPI error, Uniprossesser wont work because I have 2 cores.

I ran XP 64 bit for a time. It was extremely picky about hardware and there is zero chance it would run on any new HP laptop today. You’ll need that HP to be from that era but I did recall it did work fine on an albeit ancient dual core 64 bit Intel CPU so my take is it’s not the dual core at issue.

You omitted the exact HP model so i can’t proceed any farther.

I’ve seen that error before when installing XP after a memory upgrade on Pavilion desktop. At the time, I just removed the extra memory and installed XP, then reinstalled the memory.

Odd thing is, I later installed XP again with no problems leaving the extra memory in.

      This will help.
