WINDOWS XP ADMINISTRATORS PASSWORD

By welsh_druid ·
My neighbours son has made his parents xp accounts "limited accounts" and created an Admin password for the Administrators Account. Unfortunately, he has been a bad boy and left the house under sad conditions and his parents are unable to do anything to the computer other than browse.
Seen many a remedy but nothing really concrete other than spending money on software programs. Any quick fixes please

Back up their personal data and then restore to factory condition. Don't forget updates, flash, shockwave, adobe reader, etc.
Or if no recovery CDs/partition, use their OS install disks.

Track him down and 'off' the little *******!

you need to take it out to a repair shop. Or do as the others have suggested. Threatening this youg one may get the PW, or, rebuild the system.

Recover any Data that needs recovering.

You may need to take ownership of some files depending on the OS being used.

After you have backed up all Data wipe the HDD and rebuild the System with the Original Install Disc's.

Don't bother to Threaten the Kid just Off It to save any hassle.

TR members do not assist password recovery.

by cmiller5400 In reply to WINDOWS XP ADMINISTRATORS ...

The members of TechRepublic - A Resource for IT Professionals, will not assist anyone in the recovery of lost passwords. You may have a legitimate reason to recover a password. However, we cannot verify your motives and will therefore not assist anyone in what may be an attempt at gaining unauthorized access to a computer system. Due to the open nature of this forum, any assistance given to help circumvent security measures, even for legitimate purposes, would be available for unscrupulous individuals to use for illegitimate purposes. This is a risk that we the members of TechRepublic will not take. Please do not ask questions of this nature on TechRepublic.

If you have a legitimate need to circumvent a password scheme, please contact the vendor for the software / hardware and request their assistance. E.g. Windows XP password recovery issues should be taken up with Microsoft's technical support, Phoenix BIOS password recovery issues should be taken up with Phoenix Technologies, etc.. Actually jcoo, TR does have a moderator...

which is why most of those 'helpful' crack a password posts get deleted. And why obscene posts get deleted. Sometimes it just takes a bit for the moderator to find them.
