I use Mozilla Firefox version 3.0.3 inside Windows XP SP3 and often download files. Firefox is set to ask for a download location when I click “save file.” When I do this a small Windows Explorer (WE) window opens and allows me to select a location. I usually create a new folder for each new download so I can more easily manage. Since the WE always retains the last used location, I will click the “up” navigation button, then right click in a blank WE area and select “new folder” and create a new folder name. This has worked fine and exactly as described for years. Recently however, the drop down that opens when I right click has changed. The first time I right click the drop down contains only one entry which reads “new” as opposed to the several entries (view, arrange, refresh, properties, etc) that has been the norm for years. I have to click again in the blank area to get this one item (new) drop down to disappear and then right click again the blank area and the historically expected drop down then appears. While everything then proceeds as expected, it extra mouse clicks have added time consumption with which I am not happy.
Added information: The occurrence is not Firefox related as it occurs in IE also. The occurrence is not XP SP3 related as it does not occur on my other XP SP3 machines. I do a lot of testing and download review with my machine, so it could be almost anything else.
Does anybody know why this change in procedure has happened to me? I dare you to find an answer… I am pretty knowledgeable with XP and this has greatly alluded me!
thanx,
