Windows XP Opens Extra Copies of Excel When Opening Linked Files

by dewey . Updated 22 years, 10 months ago

We have an interesting little problem with XP. We use 2 Excel files that are linked and share information. When Windows XP opens the linked Excel files it also opens an extra “dead or empty” copy of Excel. It does this using either Office 2000 or XP, but neither Office version will do it on Windows 2000.
So it is an XP problem. So far Microsoft has nothing listed on their web site.
Any thoughts out there?
