Windows XP Pro

By f-3908741 ·
Last fall I bought an old computer at a moving sale. Just this week I pluged it in and the screen ask for a password. I do not know this and have no way of contacting the people that I bought this from. Is there away to fix this or is this just a bunch of junk now

Just hack the admin account

by cliffr In reply to Windows XP Pro

If it is an NT based O/S (NT, 2K, XP Pro), then you should be able to download one of the many hacker tools on the Internet that creates a Linux boot disk with a batch file that changes the local admin account password to anything you want. Just do a Google search on administrator password hack.

Is it booting an OS

by w2ktechman In reply to Just hack the admin accou ...

If it is not booting to an OS, then it is a BIOS password. On a desktop system you may be able to reset it by opening the system and looking on the MB for the correct PIN configuration. If you are not comfortable with this, then please take it to the shop.
For a Notebook, it is best to take it to a shop.

If it is booting to an OS and asking for a password, then I would suggest reinstalling the OS.
