Was That a Typo msoe50.pnf ?

by pierrejamme In reply to Windows XP Pro hangs afte ...

Courtjester:
Need a little clarification. When you say Clean install that is when you boot to the XP Cd, format your hard drive and then install XP. ME is a very poorly written OS , but I am impressed if they had an Uninstall??

There is a file msoe50.inf (not msoe50.pnf)used by Outlook Express. Try removing and re-installing OE by following this KB:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263837/en-us

You might also try File Run SFC /Scannow first, this will check Windows File Protection. You will probably need your XP CD.

Was That a Typo msoe50.pnf ?

by courtjester In reply to Was That a Typo msoe50.pn ...

Hello pierrejamme,
Yes I think it is a typo perhaps it was due to oversight, the ME OS was not uninstalled but drive partition was deleted, formatted and the drive formatted and repartitioned and the XP installed after installation and restart the welcome screen appeared an I clicked on start/ programs and the I received the message I tried another XP cd which belongs to my friend to see if my cd had any flaws after deleting formatting and repartioning but I got the same message.
Are my system requirements ok for XP?
And I forget to inform you that I have no internet connection on that computer.
I also don?t have much knowledge on computers.
Thank you very much for your speedy information, any additional tips would also be appreciated.
My apologies for not responding sooner.

Outlook Express Errors

by pierrejamme In reply to Was That a Typo msoe50.pn ...

courtjester:
Even though you may not be using Outlook Express Microsoft has made it a part of XP.

Since you do not have Internet. This is what the MS site says to do:
Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional
1. Remove Outlook Express 6.0 from Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional.a. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
b. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
c. In the Components list, click to clear the Outlook Express check box, and then click Next. Outlook Express will be removed from the computer.

2. Reinstall Outlook Express 6.0 on a computer that is running Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional.a. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
b. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
c. In the Components list, click to select the Outlook Express check box, and then click Next.
d. After Outlook Express is installed, click Finish.

I am glad you deleted the ME, not doing so can cause problems.

Did you try the file run: SFC /scannow
Please do so, as I said you will need your CD when you run this and it may take 30 minutes or so.
