Windows XP Pro printing html code when asked to print from IE 7.0

Same issue here. Only close common factor noticed is another article i stumbled across possibly being AOL related ? I took the *risk* and uninstalled someones AOL software at their request.

Since then, this symptom of HTML printouts has appeared.

I've yet to follow-up onsite to resolve this.

(ignore the OS/versions it refers to)

I've yet to try the solution, but the commonality in finding this was that at some point or currently AOL software is installed on the PC.

I have a friend experiencing the same problem but his is in Outlook Express. He also recently removed AOL. Have you come up with a solution?

Same Problem AOL removed

by psandak In reply to Windows XP Pro printing h ...

I removed AOL from a client's home PC and I am getting the same problem. The Microsoft solution did not work as I found nothing like they said I should find. Besides that solution was designed for IE4.0.

Any other ideas?

Cominality - AOL - solved issue for me

by daniel In reply to Same Problem AOL removed

The cominality in this thread is AOL had been uninstalled. This problem also crept up on a clients computer after uninstalling AOL. After reading this thread I remebered that the default browser had been AOL. Sure enough after the uninstall, no default browser had been set. After setting it back to IE, web pages printed just fine.

Thanks guys

I've been banging me head against the proverbial wall trying to solve this dilemma, along with a few of my mates. All it required was one simple setting adjustment following the un-installation of that incidious AOL! This site told me which setting to actually change http://www.technologyquestions.com/technology/internet-explorer/208009-printing-problem.html (I'm no techo :)

Thanks again!

HTML printing instead of text and graphics

by palermoj In reply to Windows XP Pro printing h ...

I recently updated AOL software and had the same problem of HTML code printing instead of graphics and text. I fixed it by making IE 7 the default browser. Enter internet optins and go to the programs tab. You will see the "Make Default" button there. Hope this works for you.

HTML Print instead of text and diagrams

by denise.hiscock In reply to Windows XP Pro printing h ...

Many thanks. I have AOL installed and, up until a few days ago, my internet pages printed ok. Then, disaster, HMTL graphics every time I wanted to print a page. I have spent hours scouring the internet to find a solution until I came across TechRepublic and your solution. I have now made IE my default and everything is now working perfectly!! Thank you, thank you!!!
Denise
