Windows XP SP1

the power schemes are missing from power options in the control panel. how do i get them back?

see if anything in BIOS settings disabled that should be enabled?

or maybe login with full local admin rights see if that is why? you on a network?

There are numerous reasons why the power management may not be enabled. If you have the termninal server enabled, microsoft considers your machine a "high availability" machine and disables the hibernate mode. There are also some issues with USB and drivers. If you can be a little more explicit about your configuration, it would be easier to suggest things to try. One known problem was with some versions of McAfee Viruscan and Norton utilities with incompatible drivers. These are documented in the microsoft knowledge base. I hope this helps.
