WindowsMe glitch
Lockedby ted · about 23 years, 6 months ago
I recently installed WinMe. Some how it created a “Windrive” on my primary partition. It uses 188MB of space and I can read and write to it. However I can’t seem to get rid of it and the Microsoft site has been no help. Thanks.

Are you sure this is not windows new version of the old win386.swp file? Under my computer check its properties it may give you a clue as to what it is for.

No, my swap file is fixed at 256meg and is in the root directory. The size of the bogus disk is a function of the amount of memory installed. If I pull it down ot 64meg, it is about 62meg in size and escalates on how much memory I install. At192meg, it is 188meg.
I am at my wits end and about ready to do a reinstall, but I really want to kn ow where this came from.

Is it a whole separate partition? If so, use fdisk and delete it and repartition your drives. You can also use Partition Magic which is a neat little partition program. Its the cheapest they come. If its not a separate partition, then you have nothing to worry about just delete the folder its using. If it says it cant, you screwed up the install somehow, because i dont have this on my system and it has ME. It could also be the version, i have the original version of ME that you cannot buy so maybe that is why. Hope this helps.
