Windwos 2000 SMTP server

By rick ·
In teh Windows 2000 Tech mail for today, setting up your own SMTP server is explained as an solution to ISP's who do not relay email. The only problem with this is the article never mentions filtering incoming requests based on IP address to prevent someone else from using your SMTP server to relay their mail.

Very poor form Tech....

One of the quickest ways to get blacklisted, or owned by a script kiddie is to have an open relay on an SMTP server. ALWAYS prevent relaying from anyone outside of your network.
