This is a home-computer, and neither reverting to 98 or upgrading to W2K is an option ... some important device drivers aren't available for those, nor do I want to purchase more MS licenses.
Symptom; the mouse (or sometimes just windows) freeze for anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds, and then the machine comes back. Reboot restores reasonable behavior.
I'm hoping to locate some downloadable patch (MS doesn't have one), or just change some setup or registry item.

The system here just freezes after a mouse click ... doesn't much matter what's running, the mouse cursor still moves slowly, but no mouse clicks are accepted. Then, after a while, it starts behavingagain. Sometimes (not always) rebooting helps, which could be indicating a memory leak ... mainly IE (exploder) and Outlook 2000 are what run, although the Shockwave plugin is generally active in the home page on this machine.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
