This addresses your Photo Editior problem:

      ***begin Photo Editor

As you may have experienced, Microsoft is short on explaining software faults ? especially this one regarding the photo editor?s propensity to remain locked in a ?maximized only? display state for whatever ever reason (e.g. the system crashes while photo editor is minimized). The user cannot vary the size of the window (either 100% maximized or 100% minimized ? NO ability to varying the window size). Moreover, the program often opens in a 100% minimized state whenever this fault occurs ? leading the user to believe that the program is not working (However, Microsoft Photo Editor does appear on the task bar and in the task list). For whatever reason, guidance from Microsoft for recovery from this software fault is missing.

Given the current situation, I have found this action restores the photo editor program to a state that allows you to vary the size of the window:

      1. Backup your registry.
      2. Close Microsoft Photo Editor.
      3. Open regedt32.
      4. Select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive (HKCU).
      5. Select and double click the HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Photo Editor\3.0\Microsoft Photo Editor\InitialPosition key.
      6. Clear the string data.
      7. Close regedt32.
      8. Reopen the photo editor.

The photo editor now opens in a reduced window size and allows you to vary the size of the window.

      *****end Photo Editor

Is the application accessing Photo Editor from within word? What version of Word is used on NT?
