Winword.exe error

By pchlp ·
I have a PC running Win2000 and Office 2000 for Small Businesses. I have it networked to another PC but if that PC is not on, I get an error when I open Word and get an error saying "there is an error running Winword exe file" and then it closes down. If the other PC is on it works.
I uninstalled Office and reinstalled as a standalone PC and have nothing mapped.
I installed SP3 for WIn2000 and Office updates.
Any ideas,
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Locate and rename/delete Normal.dot.
Delete any TMP files left by Word. They start with a tilde (~). You can delete ~*.*
Start Word with
Winword.exe /a
And look at any add-ins that might be installed.
