Well you need to go to the Acer Web Site and download the LAN Device Driver

Most likely the one you have installed isn’t compatible with SP3 and has been replaced with one that works. As you didn’t give a Model Number for the Acer I can only point you to the General Driver Page at Acer which is here

You will have to list your Model Acer NB and look for the XP Driver for your LAN, Network or Ethernet Connection I’m not sure which Acer call it but as they are the same thing any will do.

Ok I was on the Internet when I downloaded SP3 so after I downloaded it and installed it I had no problem with my LAN, well I will put it this way, in the lower righthand side @ the bottom where my wireless is, it tells me that I’m hooked up to a wireless network but It will not allow me to surf the net.

I even tryed to go on the net with my Modem using dialup, no luck!

Was affected by the Service Pack. Remove it and reinstall it.

I’m assuming that you have access to another computer to do this as you are posting here to TR on the Internet. So look at what Browser you are using as the culprit. Of course it’s always possible that the install of the Service Pack corrupted the OS and you need to reinstall that and bring in your data & Settings from the backup that you made before installing the Service Pack when you followed the instructions on the M$ Web Site on Preparing to Install SP3.

Also check if the Browser is set to On Line and not Off Line.
