WinXP-Pro on a W2k Server Domain

by davidg47 . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

I have a network that has 4 Windows XP Pro client machines connected to a server that is running Windows 2000 Small Business Server. The network is connected by way of a Linksys 16 port hub. I was able to set up everyones accounts in the server, andeveryone connects fine, although very slow. But, the connection is so very slow! When I ping the server from any of the client machines, the TTL is 180. Shouldn’t it be something like 10? I thought maybe it was the cable I bought, so I took one of my prefab cables in and ran it directly from one of the client machines to the server, but still get the 128 TTL. My customer is juming up and down about how slow the network is… Please! Anyone out there have any ideas of why it would be so slow, and what I can do to remedy this problem?
