WinXP Registry

by jfradette . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

Occasionally, I’ll run thru my reg to clean it up a bit. However, lately, I’ve been seeing many entries that I don’t recognize. The data field appears to be a jumble of ASCII characters. This might just be an XP encryption thing, but I don’t recall seeing this type of data string in NT or 2000.

Example:MyComputer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\clsid\{0c19b8f4-c6f9-b18e-60ba1399c8c0}\InprocServer32

the Type is: Reg_Multi_sz

the data is: ‘4Z$|Bq~f(yqAefXznFpfeat.online>g.68Te8!g($)BefZxnFp

The above is verbatim and it is all one continuous data string.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
