WinXP: Temporary Hanging/Process Hogging

By Liaor ·
I'm running Windows XP Pro on a Pentium 4 1.8 GHz machine with 512 MB RDRAM.

If I open some context sensitive menus in, say Printers, the system slows down for no apparant reason. If I close the menu, the system returns to normal operation.

Also, if I minimize certain applications, the start menu will stop functioning for say, one minute, and return to normal.

Has anyone experienced this kind of behavior and knows how to solve it? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Robert L.

Check the startup in the start menu, and remove the icons that are there, also in the taskbar on the notification menu you can close the programs that are runing in the background. To go there make a right click on the task bar and click on properites.
