wireless card doesn’t see network

The wireless card in my Toshiba notebook has stopped functioning. I have uninstalled it and updated the drivers for it. Device Manager says there are no problems with the card. It has worked in the past and has even connected to my present wireless network, but after rebooting would not see it again.
