Wireless Lag Spikes – online gaming

by herbert.jeremy . Updated 18 years, 6 months ago

I have recently set up a wireless network.
Using CNet pci wireless adapter, CNet wireless router.
My PC is set up with dual boot windows XP pro 64x, and Vista Business 64x.

I play an online game called Entropia Universe, under vista general game play is fine with no lag (the game has some issues with vista as it doesnt offical support it). When running the game under XP pro it runs fine for anywhere between 10-60mins then suddenly latencey starts up really bad and the game is unplayable. Exiting the game and logging back in doesnt help, I have to actually restart the pc to stop the lagging. I’ve tried shutting down services, restarting wireless but nothing apart from restarting pc helps. Wireless signal strength seems to be fine.

Any ideas on whats causing this and why it happens in XP but not Vista (from what ive read vista should be worse with wireless latency not xp)?
