wireless network problems

at home we have a wireless network. it works fine about 80 percent of the time. email, aim, browsing all work great until one goes to a website like google maps or any thing else with what i assume to be a lot of data and or pictures. my laptop stays connected to the network but i can no longer browse, chat or use email. i have to then reboot the router and it works fine again. unless i want to print up directions. this has left countless websites on the do not go to list including google maps, myspace, college humor etc. any advice or solutions?

What router is it? Some are notorious for giving you an – inexplicable – hard time. eg. our Linksys router at home often fails to do it’s DNS magic properly, while it’s connected to the internet just fine.
