wireless router connection issue

By melissamorgan ·
I have a linksys router and I want to connect it to my desktop computer and my laptop which has a wireless card. I need to know where to plug in the cables... Does the modem go to the "WAN" or just one of the four slots??? I've tried it every way possible but I just want to know so I can stop wasting my time. Help please =)

Modem connects to WAN

by ugadata In reply to wireless router connectio ...

Yes, the modem (Cable or DSL) connects to the WAN port.

If your desktop computer doesn't have a wireless network card, then it would plug into one of the four ports (slots).

With the hardware connections made, It's not going to just start working. You will now need to configure the router and PCs so they can work together.
