.wmz message attachments

By rob.lay ·
I have a problem with a user on my network. When they send e-mails the recipients receive the mails with various .wmz attachments. We run Exchange server 2003 and outlook 2003. The user sends mails in HTML format but without anything other than text in the body of the e-mail. Any pictures etc are sent as attachments. The signiture is also rich text with no graphics.
Is there anyway of removing these attachments?? If anyone else has had this problem I'd be interested to hear from them.
Cheers Rob

Unfortunatly thats not an option, the users which are having the problem are also using media player regularly so they need to keep it installed. Thanks for the suggestion. Any other ideas?? Rob

This can happen when a messeage in Outlook 2000 or later in HTML format using Microsoft Word as the default editor and the receiving email client is not Outlook 2000 or later.

You can try changing outlook not to use word. Click tools\options\Mail format tab and uncheck the use microsoft word to edit emails option.

It can also be a virus. Some viruses send malicous windows media skin files in .wmz attachemtns. You will want to update and use virus scan software to detect if a virus is present.
