Trying to open files in Word 2000 and get the following error messages:
An error has occurred in your program…Choose Close or Ignore…Chose Close…This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down…Clicked on Details…Winword caused a general protection fault in module GDI.exe at 0026:000014a0…..
I’ve been unsuccessful on Microsoft’s website. Tried the repair option — didn’t work either. Next, tried reinstalling office completely — didn’t work either. Copied gdi.exe file from another Windows 98 machine to the windows\system directory — no change.
Thinking this might be a Windows 98 bug. One machine is running Windows 98 Second Edition and the other one is running the original edition. Anyone have any other ideas?
