How can I transfer my auto-correct settings from word 97 to word 2000
I have tried copying normal.dot into template location but get run errors.??

Here's a download that will do the job. ( I think it's also on the installation C "Macros9.dot" )

You can also bring over the <username>*.acl files, the *.dic custom dictionaries by copying.

Indeed copying the .acl files would work. However, do not underestimate the job. Especially if you have the spell checking installed for different languages with Word 2000 and perhaps different users on the one system make sure that you identify thecorrect .acl files. They may be in different directories than you would assume. You also may have to rename the file. The best way to check out is to add an unusual correction to both the old system [Word 97] and another one to the new [Word 2000]. Check with e.g. Notepad if the correction is in. Do not change anything in Notepad. Just use it to find out which file is which. As a safeguard, first copy the existing Word 2000 .acl file to another location or rename it.
