Word 2000 and Equation editor

By JDaz ·
The equation editor of Word 2000 has suddenly started running slow. It takes a lot of time to open and it stops functioning for some amount of time. No error is reported though.

This happens with equation editor and figures of Word 2000.

My machine configuration is Windows ME and MS Office 2000. I have reinstalled MS Office but the problem still persists. Word runs fine if I am not using the equation editor or inserting figures.

Any suggestions/solution is much appreciated.

As a stab:
Try renaming/deleting Normal.dot
Delete the shards left by word. They start with a tilde (~). You can, in most cases, delete
~*.*

The solution given at www.dessci.com/en/support/tsn/tsn83.htm helped me to solve the problem. Thanks a lot. The temporary files were creating the problem.

Try applying the latest office service pack, if you haven't already done so.

Also you can download a troubleshooter 'add in' for office from microsoft.

Thank you for the information. But the problem was due to temporary files. Again I appreciate your contribution.
